  • 25 Year Old Unveils First Nigerian Made carbon Fiber Sports Car

  • A fabrication engineer and chief executive officer of Bennie Technologies LTD, Jerry Mallo, unveiled the first made in Nigeria carbon fiber sports car yesterday.

    The carbon fiber car named Bennie Purrie was brought out to the world to see at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

    As he was interviewed on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Friday, He said that "African is a good market for luxury vehicles".

    He further quoted,  "I got the exposure when i was in the UK in Europe, we learnt that making a car is just half the challenge, and selling it is the other half".

    "Africa is said to be the target place to sell these vehicles, so i feel there's a big market for it here".

    Jerry Mallo, who came from Bokkos, Jos, Plateau State said he discovered his passion for cars at the age of five when he was in primary 2.

    He also said while he was in school, he found it difficult to comprehend the therrtical aspect of his course but did well in his practical classes.

    "There are lots of hand skilled individuals in Nigeria and they are lying wasted if you would allow me to say it, its like the theoretical aspect is what is valued more and i am poor at the theoretical so i saw the challenge why  don't i do something practically-inclined and will also be platform for others to put their mind and we'll make a living out of it, so said Mallo.

    The young engineer said he was inspired to create the sports car because Nigerian and African at large have all the required resources and raw materials needed for production.

    He moved ahead to say that the car was made with fibers that have characteristics of glass totally different from the normal cars in Nigeria made with aluminium.

    The said instead of victims been crushed in the car during accident, the card would break into pieces and the victims are protected. with airbags.

    He said the car will be fully ready for purchase in two years, for the one he has now is like research.

    The young engineer on the 2nd of August 2018, came up as  the overall winner of the Micro Small Medium Enterprise award.

    His a specialist in the fabrication of agricultural machines including a tractor which earned him the national award as MSME of the year.

    As the winner, he was presented with a car and a N1 million by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the MSME Awards grand winner of the year and given the scholarship  to study in any university of his choice around the world.
